Springtime Fun: DIY Play Spaces, Easter Magic & a Little Spring Refresh

This month we welcomed Spring with creativity, outdoor play, and (attempted) a little gardening! I tackled a fun DIY project for Piper and Ripley, revamped our outdoor play area, and, of course, launched some adorable new Easter products at Wood Be Awesome Gifts!

DIY Lemonade Stand: A Wood Be Awesome Creation

Lately, Piper and Ripley have been obsessed with pretend play, so I decided to build them their very own lemonade stand! No, they won't be selling lemonade on the curb-because let's be real, that would be a whole extra job for me, lol.

How I did it:

I started with four wooden crates from Lowe's and spray-painted them white. Then, grabbed three 40-inch scrap wood pieces from the Wood Be Awesome workshop and used them to frame the stand. After gluing and nailing everything together, I whipped up a quick sign, added a few cute props, and just like that-the cutest little lemonade stand was born!

To really bring it to life, I grabbed some adorable accessories from Amazon. Piper and Ripley have been playing with it daily, and I love seeing their imaginations run wild.

Outdoor Play Space Revamp

Since spring is rolling in, I decided to give our outdoor play area a little refresh:

🌸 The playhouse got a makeover – I added fake flowers to the planter box for a pop of color.

👐 The sensory table is back out – And it’s decorated with lemonade-themed fun to match their stand!

🌱 We planted a garden! (Well, kind of… I got a self-watering raised garden bed because let’s be real, I do not have a green thumb, lol). We’re growing tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and an artichoke.

It’s been such a joy watching the kids play, explore, and get excited about helping in the garden (I need all the plant help I can get, haha).

Spring Cleaning & A Cozy Reading Nook Dream

With Spring comes Spring cleaning—which means decluttering, organizing, and maybe even a little redecorating. My goal for March? To finally create a reading corner for my little kids.

I’ve been on a reading kick lately, and the idea of a cozy book nook where we can all snuggle up and read sounds like a dream. But let’s be real—I probably won’t be able to read my book while they’re awake… I’ll be reading to them the whole time, lol. Still, a dedicated reading space sounds like a brilliant plan!

Speaking of reading, I recently finished The Women by Kristin Hannah and The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, and both were absolutely amazing! If you need a book recommendation, these two are at the top of my list right now. The Women was heart-wrenching and powerful, while The Housemaid was a wild ride full of twists!

Mom Tip: Embrace the Seasonal Shift

Spring isn’t just about cleaning and organizing—it’s about refreshing your mindset. Here are some simple ways to embrace the season:

🌞 Get outside! Even a quick walk or time in the garden makes a difference.

📖 Try something new! Whether it’s a hobby, a recipe, or a new book, shake things up!

📅 Declutter your schedule! Let go of commitments that don’t serve you and make space for what truly matters.

Spring is a time for new beginnings, fresh starts, and making the most of the season. Whether you’re sprucing up your home, playing with the kids, or just soaking in the sunshine—enjoy it!
